Adults just wanna have fun!

Adulting is hard! Remember when we were all wide-eyed kids, dreaming of the day we'd become adults? We couldn't wait for the freedom that came with it. Little did we know that along with that freedom would come a stack of responsibilities. Suddenly, our once carefree lives became filled with daunting feelings, overwhelming thoughts, and unimaginable pressure. And to make matters worse, there was no instruction manual to guide us through this uncharted territory.

Now, as we wake up each morning, trudge to work, whip up dinner, tend to our families, zone out in front of the TV, and crawl into bed, it feels like this monotonous routine is what society expects of us as adults. But here's the thing – I refuse to accept this as the norm. Lately, I've been digging deep with my clients and asking them a simple question: What do you do for fun? Surprisingly, many struggle to come up with an answer.

We've lost touch with the importance of fun, play, curiosity, and creativity in our lives. These should be non-negotiable aspects of our weekly routine. Now, I understand that life gets busy, and we can't always squeeze in these activities every single day. However, engaging in these lighthearted pursuits should be a priority whenever we can make it happen.

Let's redefine what "adulting" means. It's not just about ticking off a checklist of duties; it's about embracing our inner child and tapping into the joy that comes with it. Activities like painting, crafting, coloring, solving puzzles, playing video games, board games, or card games may seem inconsequential, but they can have a profound impact on our overall well-being. By dedicating even the briefest of moments to these playful endeavors, we can find a delicate balance amidst the challenges and complexities that adulthood throws our way.

So, let's pledge to sprinkle our days with a dash of fun, and let our inner child roam free. After all, we all have a child part within us that's yearning to let loose and have a good time. It's time to reclaim that childlike joy and spontaneity in our lives. By nurturing our inner child, we can navigate the often overwhelming journey of adulthood with a lighter heart and a brighter smile.
